The Commercial Dive Center at the Eastern Atlantic States Carpenters Technical Center Celebrates Second Graduation in Sicklerville, NJ

Posted OnAugust 13, 2024 byBrandon Fishbaum

Sicklerville, NJ – The Eastern Atlantic States Carpenters Technical Center in Sicklerville, New Jersey, had its second graduation ceremony for the Commercial Dive Center on May 23. This ceremony marks another significant milestone for the Center, highlighting its continuous commitment to advancing career opportunities within the carpentry industry.

The Commercial Dive Center, an essential part of the Technical Center’s offerings, prepares graduates with essential skills for underwater construction and inspection. Over the 16-week program, 11 graduates from across the northeast United States have been mentored by professionals, mastering safety protocols, technical proficiency, and gaining the practical experience needed for this demanding field. The program boasts accreditation from the Global Wind Organization, the U.S. Dept. of Labor, and the commercial diving industry.

Phil Diaz, Training Director at Eastern Atlantic States Carpenters Technical Centers, expressed his pride: “Witnessing the graduation of our second cohort from the Union Carpenters Dive Center is a testament to the resilience, dedication, and expertise of our students. Their readiness to enter the workforce with ADCI certification reflects not only on their personal accomplishments but also on the rigorous and comprehensive nature of our training.”

All graduates have secured employment following their graduation, ready to contribute significantly to vital infrastructure projects. Each graduate will receive an Association of Diving Contractors International card, certifying their qualifications as divers—an essential credential in the commercial diving community.

“The growth of our Dive Center and the success of our graduates emphasize the innovative and responsive nature of our curriculum to the needs of the industry,” added Diaz. “This graduation ceremony is not just a celebration of achievement but also a clear indicator of our ongoing commitment to providing top-tier education.”

This immersive experience highlights the state-of-the-art facilities and resources available to union apprentice carpenters.
